Your life. A decade from now.
Dec 19, 2025
You’re probably good at what you do.
I don’t need to know you to know that.
The fact that you’ve subscribed to this newsletter means you’re open to new information and immediately puts you in the top few percent of people in your field.
It shows that you’re interested in finding ways to improve yourself and your business.
You take your personal development seriously, and I’d guess that since you’re subscribed to this email, you’re probably also getting knowledge from many other sources too - Audible, YouTube, books, journals, Medium, emails...
I don’t say that to inflate your ego.
I say it because chances are, you already know how to execute and get after a goal.
But are you clear on what that big goal is? What you’re executing towards?
If I asked you, could you paint a vivid picture of exactly how you’re spending your day or week ten years from now?
I was asked about my 'decade goals' last year. Where I wanted to be at 50 years old. I was completely blank.
For all my huffing and puffing about the future and big visions, I couldn't tell you what it looked like or felt like in my own vision.
I felt like a bit of a fraud.
If I didn’t know where I was going, how could I do what I did best and execute in line with it?
It wasn't that I hadn't thought about it. It was that I was still considering too many different scenarios.
I hadn't picked ONE and made it clear that was where I wanted to be and when.
During that time, I received a text that carried such a massive weight.
It read:
Jarrod, you’re good. Brilliant at executing.
You’ll get to where you’re going when you’re clear what that is.
It hit me like a stale loaf of sourdough to the face.
Read it again. And I mean, really read it.
You’ll get to where you’re going
when you’re clear what that is.
So I’ll ask you, where are you going?
Are you absolutely clear on it?
Bullish even…
Unwavering in your approach, not chasing every shiny new thing or imagining a bunch of different scenarios like I was.
And does your team know that too?
For example, if I walked up to any of your team members, would they all answer this question the same way:
What is (your company) trying to achieve?
Or would the answer be completely different each time…
I’ve spent loads of time getting clear on my vision so that I can start to repeatedly share it with my team and our customers going forward.
Up to this point, we’ve grown organically with moments of strategic growth.
But we haven’t been clear on what everyone is executing towards long term.
You might have it all figured out, and this might be useless info.
Or it could be a nudge to make sure you communicate your vision more.
But for those who haven’t seen the value of having a clear vision, this is a call to action to paint a vivid picture of it.
It is one of the most magnetic things you can do inside a business to pull people in and align them towards achieving something truly remarkable.
It also means you (personally) will be using your time better and hustling in the right direction which feels damn good.
I hope this helps!
Have a great week.
